EFHS Notable Nightstands
Last week I did something that was WAY out of my comfort zone. I went furniture shopping at Habitat for Humanity Edmonton to look for a piece of furniture to turn into a nightstand.
I still can’t believe I am doing this. I am not a DIY person.
I can fake a kids craft and the occasional small project but I think I am way over my head with this one. I will be working with the Edmonton Fall Home Show on their DIY Inspirations – Notable Nightstands project presented by Rust-Oleum and Habitat for Humanity to turn something old into a nightstand.
I will be doing two nightstands – one for a kids room and the other for a grown-ups oasis. I went to Habitat Humanity and picked out my two pieces and I am actually kind of excited. There was surprisingly a lot of options at the store and it was great to have helpful staff there to help me pick out a piece. They said they always have people coming into the store looking for projects so they are more than willing to help if you need.
Then I got them home and thought “Now what?”
I luckily have some paint from Rust-Oleum to use to jazz it up a bit (people still say jazz it up right???) which I am currently Googling how to use. The paint looks like it goes on super smooth so hopefully that will cover any mistakes I make.
I, along with the other participants, will be documenting the progress of our pieces so follow along using the hashtags: #EFHS17 & #DIYInspirations. Once we are done they will be brought to the Edmonton Fall Home Show (October 20-22nd) where you can bid on them with 100% of the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. I can’t guarantee mine will be anything you will actually want in your home so I am hoping to get some pity bids.
